I've always been a writer. My dream was to one day become a published author. That dream came true in October 2022. The dream was only the beginning as I had my work cut out for me. A published book does not sell overnight. There are many highs and many lows. I entered a world that I had no experience in. Choose the freedom of becoming an indie author, without a network. I had to build one from the ground up. A daunting task. The world is not what it used to be. Everything now is digitalized. It can be hard to recognize what is legit and what is a scam. It's a cutthroat business. Crafting stories was actually, believe it or not, the easy part. Follow my journey as I share the things that I learned during the course of a year as an indie author.

This book as the title suggests is about M.C. Ryder’s journey through creating and publicizing her books and short stories. She writes about the learning process of putting yourself out there with a book and finding your worth through yourself rather than reviews. This author’s books have been a piece of her which she thoroughly researched prior to writing and felt the feelings of her characters. Her books have been awarded through various platforms and she explains the long road and often random ways she found these accolades.

She began publishing her first book using New Book Authors Publishing to save time and avoid facing rejection from the big publishing houses. The book is filled with sensible advice for the new authors, commendations, and warnings of pitfalls. Ryder describes how the lows and highs can affect new authors and discourage them from wanting to see their work in print and cautions that success requires grit and determination.
