Corinthe, an exile to the human world, falls in love with a human, Luc. Since she is not mortal and from Pyralis Terra (a universe in the Crossroad), she is confused why she feels like this..... but she likes it. Anyway, with help from her guardian Meranda, her last task before going back home is to kill Luc. The problem is, Luc likes Corinthe back and Corinthe doesn't want to do it at all. But, she loves her home more. So, when Corinthe goes in for the kill, she can't do it. When she finally focuses, Luc jumps through the Crossroad (a link between all universes).
