Randall's sequel to Clovermead combine's elements of fantasy and history with good storytelling. Cerelune Cindertallow, the heir of a matriarchal family, has the unusual ability to turn into a bear. The story continues from the point where Clovermead, as Cerelune likes to be called, has settled into Chandlefort with her mother Lady Melisande Cindertallow. She has recently returned because she was taken as a baby by Waxmelt and removed to another town.
