Determined to find the father she knows only by an address, Riley and Mia take off on a journey with so many twists and turns Riley begins to doubt they’ll ever find a real home. She ignores the question that keeps popping into her mind–if they do find her father, will he even want them? Or will he send them away?

One morning Riley and her younger sister Mia find their grandmother dead in her bed. They head off to find Riley's dad that they only know by an address on an envelope. They hide in a bus that takes them to "The Burning Man". There they meet a boy named River. River tries to help them find their dad by getting them closer to their destination. When they meet Riley's grandmother they can only hope that their father is just as nice and kind to them as their grandmother is.
