The Fantastical Creatures Field Guide is a collection of short, one-page stories about different fantastical creatures. Each short story has a picture of the creature being described, and includes creatures from all seven continents. Each creature's story is written in news article form, which gives the stories a more realistic feel.

This book is all about being different. The main character, David, was born different. Eventually, he gets fed up with all the teasing and decides to play a trick on his tormentors. He jumps off a cliff. They think he died, so theyre rather surprised when he walks into school the next day. What no one knows is that he has flaps of skin under his arms that enable him not to fly, but to glide like a hang glider. He is ashamed of his differences until he meets a girl named Cheetah. She makes him realize that the differences make us special.
Fell possesses the power of the Sight, which allows him to read and control the thoughts of other Lera, or animals. It also gives him the ability to glimpse the future. In one of his visions, he is told that he must help a human child, who assumes to be a boy. This boy is, in fact, a girl disguised as a boy. Her name is Alina, and she is under the impression that she is a changeling child, and that she is disguised as a boy for her protection from the goblins. When she discovers a plot to have her killed, she runs away, up the mountain and out onto the ice field.
Five "brothers" from the Cangzhen Temple are the only survivors when their temple is burned. They're told by the Grandmaster, before he was murdered, to scatter and find out about their enemy's history, as well as their own. This book focuses on Malao, which is Cantonese for "monkey." At the temple, he runs into his brother Hok, and they formulate a plan to steal the Grandmaster's body. They manage to steal it, but Malao is so terrified of dead bodies that he flees into the forest. There, he runs into a band of monkeys.
In this book, a girl named Kenzie accidentally spills some of her acne cream down her bathtub drain. She accidentally opens a demon portal, and a demon, Levi, shows up in her bathroom. He starts helping her to close the portal, and he slips right into an average teenage life. Meanwhile, Kenzie has to deal with him living at her house, and juggle her day to day life, without letting it slip that Levi is really a demon. At the end of the book, she figures out how to close the portal.
