Angel in my Pocket is about a girl named Bette, who finds a coin with an angel on it in a pile of money her sister earned in a car wash, for charity. It's like a good luck charm for her. A person named Gabby moves in downstairs and looks like an angel to Bette. After Gabby moves away Joe steals Bette's angel coin. She was so upset at first, but soon forgets about it. Joe soon starts having "good luck" too. He gives it to Andy whom Joe takes money from, like a bully. He gives the coin to Andy who has a sister named Vivian who has bad asthma. They all become friends.

"How Tia Lola Learned to Teach" is about a Spanish aunt who came to the United States from the Dominican Republic. She came to help her sister - who just got divorced - raise her son and daughter, Miguel and Juanita. While Tia Lola was in the U.S she was volunteered to teach Juanita and Miguels classes Spanish. During Tia Lola's visit she soon finds herself helping everyone, but she doesn't mind. Tia Lola is a very helpful person. She helps Rudy with his restaurant, and everybody else in the town with everything you could imagine.

The Properties of Water is a book about a girl named Lace who's sister Marni has a medical condition. She almost drowns underwater after she jumps off Turtle Rock . Lace's mom and sister are at a far away hospital for people like Marni. Lace and her dad are home by themselves and her dad can't handle it, so he hires a helper named Willa Dodge. Lace thinks that Willa Dodge is a thief, so she keeps a close eye on her. But Lace finds out something about Willa besides stolen goods.

Rules to Rock By was about a girl named Annabelle Cabrera, who's parents moved her and her brother from Brooklyn to Long Island. Annabelle belonged to a band called Egg Mountain. Egg Mountain had a lot of Annabelle's friends in it, like Fast Eddie or Ronaldo. It was up to Annabelle to make her own band in Long Island. It took her awhile, but Annabelle eventually got her own band. Annabelle played the bass guitar, Crackers sang and played keyboard, Jonny on guitar and Darren on drums. They had an open mic at their school and everyone named them The Bungles!
