This topsy turvy mystery follows the young Tabitha Crum, who gets a letter one day at school. She takes it home to her terrible parents and best friend, a mouse named Pemberly after her favorite book character, and discovers her parents are going on a trip. She will be left as a washer girl at an orphanage while her parents tour the world. Before her fate is sealed, however, the letter is opened. Tabitha discovers she, along with 5 other children are invited to the home of the Countess of Windermere. She discovers herself in a real life version of her favorite mystery novels.
