Ged was the greatest sorcerer of all Earthsea. In this book he is tested. This book is the first in the Earthsea series.

Opinion: 

The Wizard of Earthsea was an intriguing fantasy adventure that I enjoyed a lot, but it did not interest me enough to get me to read other books in the series.
