The book The Underdogs is about a boy named Will Tyler. Will finds out that the city will not have enough money to have a football team this year. Will comes up with a crazy plan to save the season.p He lives in Forbes, Pennsylvania. The whole town is known for having a big shoe factory. It was best known for the shoes with the wings on the side for the high school football team, the Forbes Flyers. But, then, the factory closed. The city across the river called Castle Rock, had the best football team in the league. They beat Wills team last year in the championship. p Wills plan was to write a letter to the owner of New Balance shoes and get him to sponsor the team. Will wasnt sure it would work. But it does.pWill meets a girl named Hannah Grayson who is not afraid to get hit and loves football. When she finds out that will is going to have a team she wants to play but Will says she can't. pThe team has no coach and only ten players. Will asks Toby to come back and play. Toby had quit in fifth grade and he says he might. He doesnt want to because his dad yells at him to much when hes playing. Will finally convinces his dad to be the coach. However, they still only have ten players. Will convinces everyone to let Hannah play and they name the The Underdogs. They win the first few games. They get beat by Castle Rock. After the game Toby says he wants to play. Finally, they have twelve players. Tobys dad starts yelling during the games. They tell him that he should help coach. He does and, surprisingly, he makes the team better because he is really good at defense. Tobys dad doesnt yell any more. Then Wills best friend has to move and they only have eleven players. They still keep winning. Then the quarterback gets hurt and they only have ten. Toby plays quarterback but will they make it to the championship game?

Opinion:

I liked the parts of the book where it is describing what happened in the game. There is too much drama. The beginning is really slow and boring. The whole book is too dramatic. There is not enough football in it. I say it is a 2 out of 5 star book. There is not enough action. But if you like the dramatic parts with a little football in it this is a great book for you. If you are like me and just want the football and action parts this is not a good book.
