The tragic ending of Jamie's junior year left her with memories of an ex-boyfriend and a pill addiction. Left to depression, Jamie is haunted by dreams of Uncle Jim and Hank who both committed suicide. Her mother, in a poor attempt to save her daughter, gets her a job watching a little girl named Isa on the island of Little Bly. After getting there Jamie soon discovers that the last sitter, Jessie, and her boyfriend Peter died in a plane crash. She is soon convinced that Peter never truly left Isa's summer home. When Isa's older brother comes home unexpectedly Jamie comes to believe that Peter is communicating with him. She meets Sebastian, a sweet local, who starts to worry that Jamie isn't quite right. Is Jamie right? Is the house haunted or is she just insane?

Opinion:

I enjoyed the majority of this story. It was suspenseful, imaginative, with beautiful romance and just the right amount of creepy ghosts to balance it out. The book did have that waking up from a dream ending that I didn't really like. Otherwise, I definitely suggest this book to all kids who like ghost story like books with real, all too human experiences.
