Janie Gorman is the last person in the world you would call normal unless you think normal is having hippie parents, and living on a five acre farm far from the city with some goats and chickens. She has a supportive best friend named Sarah and an annoying little sister. Janie wants to live large and make room for things like jam band, Sarah's saint-like older sister Emma, and just maybe a boy named Monster. Sounds normal right? But no, we are just getting started. This inspiring tale mixes friendship, love, and trying to understand your place in life. Will Janie find her place in the world to be, I don't know, normal?

Opinion:

What I really loved most about this book was the feeling you got when reading it. You get all these different feelings when you read it and you also get a different view of the characters each time. In one chapter you might feel angry because Sarah did something, but in another you might feel like crying because Sarah has something bad happen to her. It makes the book a whole lot more exciting. This book really doesn't have much of a climax. It is just more of a straight line compared to most books which have mountainous climaxes. I seriously loved this book a lot. I recommend this book to 6th graders and up.
