Sparks is a well-written and realistic young adult novel. It is full of suspense and thrilling adventure. The main character, a psychic medium named Anya Kalinczyk, works as an arson investigator for the Detroit Fire Department. Anya and her fire salamander companion, Sparky, are challenged with a new case. Although they do not expect anything out of the ordinary, it becomes a full- scale adventure filled with love, hate, fear and fate.

Opinion:

More fires occur every day, devouring homes and people. Ghosts are also suddenly disappearing, leaving no trace to where they have gone. It is left up to Anya to stop the fires, protect Sparky's new salamander eggs and bring back the ghosts to where they truly belong. If she does not succeed, someone could destroy everything.

Laura Bickle's Anya comes to life in this twisting tale, both in and out of the physical world, fighting with strength that will last forever, even if she does not. In my opinion, Sparks was a spectacular young adult novel. This book will capture a wide audience of teen readers, because of its great sense of adventure and terrible but great suspense. To me, this book has no equal and would make a moving series; I think Laura Bickle should consider this.
