LitPick Review
The sun is going to burn out in the distant but not so distant future. Panic has already sprung up in the scientists who know what is going to happen. The Earth MUST move away from the sun or all humans will die. Now that humans live tens, even hundreds, of times as long as they used to, the knowledgeable must work together to save the Earth. How will they rescue their future generations? With endless hoards of cash donated by wealthy individuals, these scientists are building underground cities for housing and engines around the world.
Opinion:
This fictitious story is a great hypothesis about what the world will come to as the sun is about to die. It is interesting to read a fictional novel that uses science so heavily and basically predicts the future. I found all of Schwartz's ideas to be intriguing, and they seemed realistic and possible to me. Seeing as how technology has improved exponentially, I could definitely accept that humans will be able to increase their lifespans in the future. The only downfall of this novel was that the plot was repetitive and boring in those sections, especially the scenes with the scientists meetings and planning sessions. I would recommend this book to space and science enthusiasts who are interested in theories on the sun burning out.
