This is an adventure/mystery book that is very emotional. As 10 year old Annie Anabel loses her sister, Mary Kate, after a premature birth, her mom is slowly slipping away from her. She even forgets Annie Anabel's birthday. While her dad is in Germany in the Airforce, she must keep her mother from slipping back into what she thought seemed like a coma. While her mother is always sitting in her rocker, never blinking once, Annie Anabel has to find a way to occupy herself, trying not to think about Mary Kate. She meets a mysterious elderly woman, Miss Eliza, who has been in prison for 30 years for murdering her husband. Annie Anabel tries to help Miss Eliza. She starts visiting Miss Eliza more often, and things start happening. Miss Eliza's outhouse gets tipped over followed by several other events. Do things get better or worse as this tragedy carries on? Read the book to find out.

Opinion:

I thought this book was a tear-jerker. I myself could actually feel the pain that Annie Anabel was experiencing. Just the thought of my mother forgeting my birthday would definitely make me wanna run away like she did. I loved this book and the fact that it showed the way all of the characters felt. This book is recomended for people who can handle dealing with grief. This tragedy is one of the best stories I have ever read!
