Yancy, a 15-year old boy, is done with his brother Will's abusive acts. Will has conduct disorder, but Yancy thinks he is just a monster. He had threatened Yancy, and Yancy's horse, Shy, in the past, but now he has gone too far. He cut Shy's tail off and slashed him with a pair of scissors. Afraid of what Will might do next, Yancy packs his stuff up and hops on the trail with his horse. Will Yancy be able to stay on the trail alive?

Opinion:

Written in a journal format, the reader really knows what Yancy is thinking. Between his entries and the poems he writes, it gives the reader a clear picture of what is going on. Also, his comic-like drawings illustrate what it was like to live with Will. The story was believable and creative. I couldn't put it down. This book helps the reader understand what it is like to live with a family member who has a mental problem.
