LitPick Review
Marty, Danny, Shana, and Johnny are staying in a Scottish village for the summer. Theyre just your average college students, all looking for a nice time for the summer. They arent prepared for what they find. It turns out there are strange sea-people lurking in the ocean, and the locals are trying to keep it under wraps. In a world full of mysteries, ghosts, and connections, these four friends discover a strange new concept when it comes to love.
Opinion:
I very much enjoyed this story. At first, I thought, "Oh, its just a story about mermaids; big deal." But its more than that. The idea that you could connect with someone for life is incredibly original and interesting! Although there were parts where the vocabulary was hard to identify and I got lost in some areas, I believe this novel was beautifully written and gave me a chance to consider if love could be this easy. It also interested me that this piece was written in third-person omniscient, meaning that the writer was able to get inside each characters head. How different perspectives dealt with the conflict was so engaging I couldnt put it down! I would recommend this for ages 13 and up, because of strong language.
