The graphic novel Refresh Refresh is about three boys: Cody, Josh, and Gordan. Their dads are all Marine Reservists who have been shipped off to fight in Iraq. The boys want to make their fathers proud, but it's difficult for them to become men without their fathers there as role models. The boys fight after school to make them tougher and stronger. They are always on the computer checking to see the news in Iraq and to see if their dads have emailed them. The surprise at the end puts the boys in shock and they end up joining the armed forces.

Opinion:

In my opinion, this was a very informing novel on how some people really feel. It made me branch out and put my feet in someone else's shoes. I've never even thought about what it would be like to live growing up without my dad because he's always been there. It was different than the other books I've read because it was a graphic novel, but I enjoyed reading it. I would suggest this book to other people so they could learn what I learned from reading it.
