LitPick Review
"The Pink Locker Society", by Debra Moffitt, is about friendship and trust. On the first day of school, Jemma and her two best friends, Piper and Kate (and the new girl, Bet) discover pink locker doors in the back of their lockers. On the locker is a note welcoming them to the "Pink Locker Society." Then on their schedules, there is no class for study hall. A few weeks later the girls are given combinations for the pink lockers, which they are to go into them every day during study hall. They discover that the Pink Locker Society is an online advice system for girls. The girls also have to promise not to tell or show another living soul that they are in the pink locker society!
Opinion:
My opinion on this book was that it was good. Mrs. Moffitt did a good job of making me think that the characters were real people. She did that by giving the characters crushes and different feelings, like anger and happiness. The author's voice was like that of a normal teenager, making me feel comfortable with the book, being a teen myself. She gave the characters normal problems or conflicts that teenagers usually deal with in real life, like embarrassing yourself in front of your crush, or having a fight with a friend. I think my overall response to the book was that I liked it a lot. I'd definitely read the sequel, called "Best Kept Secret", coming out in January of 2011. I would recommend this to my friends for sure. I think they'd really like it.
