LitPick Review
Peace, Locomotion is about a twelve-year-old boy named Lonnie Collins Motion, nicknamed "Locomotion". He's lived with his foster mom in Brooklyn ever since his parents died when he was little. He can't wait until he is eighteen and his younger sister, Lili, can live with him. The book describes Locomotion's average day-to-day activities as a foster child living in Brooklyn. But one day Locomotion's foster mom receives a letter saying that her biological son is missing in war and no one knows where he is.
Opinion:
This book was enjoyable. I didn't know it was a sequel, but the book was still incredibly easy to follow. The author, Jacqueline Woodson presents this book through letters, which was very interesting to read. The story unfolds in a captivating manner through written correspondence between Lonnie to his sister, Lilli. This allows the reader to enjoy the story through the eyes of a young boy--waiting eagerly to be with his sister. I also like how the book was believable and easy to relate to. I wish it could have been longer because it was only a little over a hundred pages. Despite its length, it is still a great book.
