Jonah and his younger brother Simon are on a journey. They are on a journey to find their brother, father, and a reason as to why it had gotten so bad at home. Before long, they need more help than just each other. They hitch a ride with a man they do not fully understand and a beautiful woman. Tensions arise as the mystery clashes with Jonahs internal principles of legality and truth. The situation turns dangerous and the brothers are left wondering whether they will finish their journey or lose everything on the way.

Opinion:

Andrew Smith weaves together a tale of passion, sorrow and loss in this journey of brothers. This novel contains strong, vivid diction that adds to the flow of the novel as a whole. In addition to this, the characters are strongly developed and each personality is well defined and singular to that person. The one main setback to this book is that its plot is not as developed as I hoped it would be. I recommend this novel to mature readers who are looking for a powerful, thought provoking read.
