Paradise Lost by Steven L. Layne is the second book in the series about two brothers, Jack and Troy Barret, who seem to have a knack for adventure. When the new school year begins, strange things occur such as transformation of a quiet boy, Chase Maxwell, into the most popular kid in high school. Things really get interesting when Jack and Tory start seeing their dad's alter ego, Mr. Eden, who is presumed dead. When they last saw Mr. Eden he had tried to kill them. Then Chase Maxfield is attacked in a pool by one of Mr. Eden's colleagues. Jack, Troy and Gram are drawn into the strange events and must solve these mysterious happenings in Paradise.
Opinion:
The plot of Paradise Lost is great. There is plenty of action but it did take a while for the main conflict to arise. The introduction is not something to skim over because it gives a lot of important information on why some things happen later on in the book. The plot is definitely action packed and the events that lead up to the climax are very interesting. The plot will keep you entertained throughout the book. Steven L. Layne's writing style is my favorite and he really knows how to make a novel fascinating to read. The conclusion has a tragic ending but promises a third book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves an action-packed adventure.
