This is a story about Philip Malloy who sings the national anthem in school when he should be quiet (according to school rules). His singing becomes a national story with people asking whether he was being patriotic or being an annoyance.

Opinion:

I felt that this book was intersting because it makes you think about patriotism and how we are expected to act in school with all the rules and regulations.  Avi is a great writer of preteen and teen books, and I know you will not be disappointed with this story.  Therefore, if you are looking for a quick read that will make you think about yourself and how you would react to a boy like Philip inappropriately singing the national anthem in school, please read this book.
