There has been a blank notebook sitting on a table in Mina McKee's house that Mina has said she will use as a journal. Now she has decided to actually do just that. Mina has always been strange; she has always been the outsider. Mina has no friends, no dad, but a loving mom who is willing to homeschool Mina, and a abundant imagination that can take her anywhere. 'School is a cage' is her thoughts. A cage that doesn't allow imagination! Her used to be teacher was always mad at her for being imaginative and that finally led to being taken out of school. No she did not get suspended, but some people thought that she should take pills. Well, NO!!! Not Mina, she will not lose her imaginative, thoughtful brain that helps her fill up her magnificent journal that holds all her thoughts and dreams. From visiting the underworld to watching birds fly through the clear spacious sky Mina always has thoughts about her life and thoughts!

Opinion:

I thought this book was ok. I had a few problems with this book. I couldn't find a plot at all. I also didn't find myself being surprised at anything that happened. Everything was predicable, but there wasn't anything to be surprised at. There was no cliff hangers and nothing that really made me think What's going to happen next? I need to read on! I didn't find this book very interesting. However, I liked the way this book really makes you think more about the world and about objects. It's creative and I can tell the author put a lot of thought into it. However it just wasn't my type of book. It was too calm. This wasn't necessarily a bad book, it just wasn't my type of book.
