Alexia Garcia has grown up her whole life without the luxurious things of life, and most importantly not knowing who her father is. Growing up in small town was hard, but its even harder when your look alike is a famous rock star who isn't all that intelligent. Alexia has her whole life laid out: go to college and get a good education. There's only one problem, money. So when senior prom is just around the corner and graduation not far behind, Alexia takes a prank photo of her looking like Kari Kingsley, her celebrity look alike. To her astonishing surprise Kara Kingsley's manager shows up with an offer for Alexia to become Kari Kingsley's double. Accepting would be the change of a lifetime. Who wouldn't turn down the luxurious life style, the chance to meet famous people and most importantly the money that would fund her education. To Alexia's surprise she finds out living large isn't what she expected. Especially when she falls in love and finds out who her father really is. Through all her endeavors is it really worth all the deceiving lies?
Opinion:
I've read two of Janette Rallison's books before and found them both very pleasing. So when I read this one I was expecting it to be just as promising. It had a very enjoyable plot and an even more enjoyable ending. Even though the main character is fictional the choices she makes are very much like the choices we have to make in life sometimes. So you can really relate to Alexia in the book My Double Life. Overall I thought the book was a very good read and would recommend it to ages 13 and up.
