LitPick Review
Low Red Moon by Ivy Devlin is about a teen named Avery Hood whose parents were killed one night. All she could remember was a flash of silver. Because of that she tries to remember who or what killed them. The day after the funeral, when she returned to school, a boy named Ben Dusic starts school and Avery notices that the color of his eyes change from their original color to silver. That begins to make her wonder if he was the one who killed her parents. He's in the woods every night that Avery is and they begin to fall in love with each other. As time goes on she learns that Ben isn't all that he appears. That makes Avery start thinking that he is the murderer, but what she doesn't factor in is the memory of Ron Jericho arguing with her father about selling the land that they lived on in the forest.
Opinion:
This book is a terrific read. It's a little weak in the beginning, but that helps put everything in place in the end. I enjoyed the love scenes and the fact that there was tension between Avery and Ben. Would they stay together? The author really laid out the scenes so at times you actually thought you could see them. The story seemed to have a few similarities to Twilight, like they both meet at school and one of them is the new kid, but even with that, it helped draw the story out a bit. You should read it because it's a great story about love and mystery, and all the hardships that come with both. If you like love stories and quick reads this book would be for you.
