After how awesome the MTO (Mountain Trail Overnight) was, no one could see how anyone would want to quit riding but apparently Carole thought differently. After getting back from the trip, tragedy strikes and Carole (the best rider at Pine Hollow Stables) has decided to never ride a horse again. Her two best friends, Stevie and Lisa, are determined to change Carole's stubborn mind. While trying to help Carole get back on horses again, they get involved in another mission that is trying to find out who the real Maxmillian Regnery the 1st is. They decide to ask Mrs. Regnery but she refuses to give them any clues to the mystery and it only gets them a job at scrubbing bridles. While there, the old lady gives them a great idea of how to get Carole back on a horse, but will it work?

Opinion:

Horse Shy is the second book in The Saddle Club series written by Bonnie Bryant. I enjoyed reading this book because it was very detailed and I liked how it described the scenery when they were on the MTO. I thought it was neat how even though something terrible would occur, something wonderful would happen in the end. I adore Lisa because she seems like the perfect person; she's nice, outgoing, and well- behaved, she loves to have fun, and she works to the best of her ability. It's very enjoyable to read about the other characters as well because they have very different personalities from one another. Horse Shy is definitely an excellent story for horse-loving girls ages 8-12 who are looking for a quick read.
