A cranky Psammead grants wishes to the five children who unearth him--wishes that never quite turn out as expected and usually have hilarious consequences.

Opinion: 

Five Children and It is a classic children's book that I am glad I discovered.  It is an enjoyable family story that reminded me a little bit of Peter Pan.  If you enjoy a wholesome family story with a bit of fantasy, this is the book for you.
