This historical fiction is set at the time after World War II when the Israel is being born,  The events of the time are accurately described as the characters weave through the excitement and hostilities of the region before and after the UN vote in1948.  This famous vote partitioned the region between the Arabs and Jews, the latter choosing to incorporate their partitioned land into the Stae of Israel and then immediately finding it necessary to defend themselves against an onslaught of Arab nations intent on their annihilation.

Opinion:

Exodus, is a classic book that should be required reading for all students. Vividly following the story of an American nurse and an Israeli fighter, it also includes long, but extrensive explanations of the current state of affairs during this time period in the Middle East.  I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to learn more about the birth of the State of Israel through a ficitonal story which will keep you engaged from beginning to end.
