The Emerald Flame is the third installment of Frewin Jones' Warrior Princess series. Branwen has accepted her mission to protect the Shining Ones from Saxon invaders. Her band of unusual friends join her for the journey, along with an old mentor to complete her objectives.

Opinion:

The old English stylings of Jones' work confused me. It was much too forced for my tastes. In addition to being confusing, the style of writing drew the scenes out, making them much longer than they needed to be. The book in its entirety was devoid of forward momentum. Branwen, although courageous and a wonderful role model for young girls, did not grow as a protagonist should. Nor did her relationship with any of the characters. I was hoping for a resolved ending, but Jones let me down again by opening up to a fourth installment. Leaving me with more questions than when the book began.
