The Crowns of Croswald is about a girl named Ivy Lovely who is a maid in a castle. She is not well liked by her boss. She learns from a friend who is a dwarf that she has magical abilities. He gives her a few books from an author named Darwin Edgar Night, and they become her most prized possessions. One day she steps out of the boundaries of the Castle Plum and meets a man who works at the Halls of Ivy. The Halls of Ivy is a magical school where royal and non-royal children go to harness their magical abilities and become Scriviners. Ivy goes on many adventures and learns to keep out of the way of the Dark Queen!

Opinion:

I really liked this book. It reminded me a lot about Harry Potter and other fairy tales with all the creatures. This was the first big book that I have read on my own, and I loved it. I hope that there will be another book following more adventures from Ivy and her friends.

There is bullying throughout this story, which kind of made me uncomfortable. Other than that, it was a great book.
