"Chasing the Bear" recalls the tale of a boy whose last name is Spenser. (His first name is never revealed) He grew up with his father and his two uncles. His mother died when he was only a baby and has been raised in an all-male household. The book mostly revolves around events that happened in Spenser's early high school years.

Opinion:

I'm not sure how I can say many good things about this book. The main character was not very likable, nor was anyone else. I didn't care what happened next for basically the entire story. I kept thinking that the action would pick up and it never did. The writing itself was good, but the storyline was extremely poorly thought out and not interesting whatsoever. I found myself setting a guideline for how much I would read every night. This doesn't happen unless I really do not like a book. Even though this author has written many best selling adult books, he obviously cannot write for teenagers. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone.
