"Catopolis" is a compilation of 17 separate short stories that all take place in the secret feline world, Catopolis. Catopolis is the world of cats that exists alongside humans but is entirely its own. In this world, cats have their own lives and relationships separate from their humans. The short stories, each written by a different author, range from cats with magic powers fighting demons to politician cats campaigning for the city to a private investigator cat discovering the truth of the seemingly magical canned food.

Opinion:

The fact that the short stories had no connection except for all taking place in the world of cats made the book hard to get through. Because each story was separate and the book has no running plot or climax, it was difficult to get drawn in. Furthermore, many of the stories were not particularly enthralling, just average stories. A few, however, were quite good. Though the few good stories helped, they could not do much to improve the book as a whole. Overall, "Catopolis" was an intriguing idea, but fell short because of its lack of cohesion. It is probably better to read over a long period of time so you don't get tired of it. Only some of the stories are worth reading, but the several good ones might make up for it if you're willing to read through everything else.
