Natalie Ng is the middle child of three, and her parents rarely pay attention to her. Super powers run in the family: her older sister has levitation, X-ray vision, and truth divination and her younger sister has the highest IQ in the Western hemisphere. So there's no question why Natalie's parents overlook her because she can only talk to cats. But, when Natalie's drama- and celebrity-obsessed friends, Oscar and Melly, notice something wrong with Easton West's (their favorite movie critic) blog posts, they need to step in and investigate. They end up convincing Natalie into being an extra with them for the movie that Easton West was last reviewing. They step into a whole lot of trouble, including the kidnapping of Melly.

Opinion:

Cat Girl's Day Off is currently one of my favorite books. The setting is complex and contributes to the many adventurous twists and turns in the plot. The author writes with rich sarcasm when the cats speak, which lets the reader see into the life of a cat. (After reading this, I've been imagining what my two cats would say to me in a conversation.) The characters are nicely developed and, because of the author's skill, I connected with many of them. Overall, this book was fantastic, with an especially entertaining "cat voice." I would recommend this book to kids ages 10 and up.
