"Best Kept Secret," by Debra Moffitt, is about Jemma and her two best friends, Kate and Piper. In book one, which I also reviewed, the Pink Locker Society got shut down by the school principal, who told the girls to forget about the PLS. The girls ignore his directions and secretly re- start the PLS, meeting in the school's basement. During that time, plans for the school's annual Backwards Dance are starting to form. Bet, the school journalist, is on top of the story. Bet is also the fourth and final member of the PLS, and Jemma, Kate, and Piper haven't even told Bet that they restarted the PLS. As for the Backwards Dance, Jemma is trying to work up the courage to ask Forrest, her long-time crush, to be her date. But, if the "For Sale" sign outside his house speaks the truth, it could be too late.

Opinion:

I liked this book. The setting was very realistic. I could easily picture it in my mind with great detail. Mrs. Moffitt made me believe in the characters as real people because she put real-life situations into the book. It's not just happy-everything-is-perfect-all-the-time stuff. For example, there is a friend fight and a choking situation. My overall response to "Best Kept Secret" was that it was pretty good. One thing I learned from this book is that everybody should learn the Heimlich Maneuver, because you never know when you might need to use it on someone and vice versa. I would recommend this book because of all the detail and drama. As you can see, this is a good book.
