When Wendy gets captured by the Vittra, she is startled to find out she's more like them then she once thought. Theypress her to come to their side; join their world. They want her to move from Forening to their city, Ondarike. But leaving Forening means leaving Finn. And Loki.

Opinion:

In this book, Wendy is actually relatable and realistic. She is nolonger the wimp that I despised in the first book. She has matured and is actually sensible. Only for a couple chapters does she really pine away and obsess over Finn, which is a major improvement. Wendy is more grounded and actually has a thought process, which is reassuring to realize. Overall, I am very pleased with her transformation.

Though it took a couple chapters to get going, the plot of this book was actually a nice thing to read. It kept me entertained, which is much more than can be said for the first book in the series. The descriptions were still a tadbit too long and lengthy for my taste, but were thankfully shorter than they were in the first book. In this book, we actually get to see more than just Forening and Earth. We get to go to Ondarike, which is the Vittra capital. This city has a dark feel to it, and is my favorite place to read about in the series.

Unlike the first book in this series, this book has only as light bit of language. The other book was chock-full of curse words, and this book definitely waters down the language, which I am most pleased about. Also, the first book had quite a bit of sexual innuendo and suggestive elements in it, which I am equally pleased to NOT read about in this book. There's practically nothing sexual even mentioned in this book, which is most impressive considering the state of the first book.
In short, this book is nothing like its predecessor. I loved it, fantasy fans will love it, and teens will love it. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series, and cannot wait to read it.
