Never Eighteen by Megan Bostic is about a young boy named Austin Parks. He received news in the ninth grade that he had cancer. He then back tracks through his life fixing problems and bringing joy and hope back to many people, whos lives he has touched along his life. Never eighteen brings you through Austins amazing journey on his way to make peace and become ready to leave the life he knew and loved.

Opinion:

My opinion on Never Eighteen is  - I LOVED IT!!!! Megan Bostic made me feel as if I was sitting in Kaylees 1969 Ford Mustang right with them experiencing sadness and laughter as Austin finishes his business on Earth. As they were traveling around town I felt as if I was seeing and touching the same things as the two of them were. It seemed as if I was there. The setting really came alive in my head. As the story continued the mood was sad, then hopeful, then sad again. Then throw in happiness and love a few times and that pretty much wraps the mood up. It changed often, but it transitioned smoothly. It felt natural. Austin and Kaylee were definitely the main characters. As they came across new characters such as old friends gone awry or acquaintances that just needed good ole guidance, you feel as if they are a real person. How Megan Bostic made them talk and how their actions played out, you picture them as any other seventeen year old kid. I felt the author wrote in a way that showed sadness, sarcasm, and laughter all wrapped up in one. I read it in my head as if two people were having a normal conversation in my head. There was a lot of cussing, which I didnt appreciate. Some words were used too often and it became too intense. Some of the situations discussed in this book were not age appropriate. Thankfully she did not go into full detail. Parts became too adult and made me a little uncomfortable. The author definitely achieved her purpose! I found this book was just plain amazing. It was touching and made me really want to enjoy the rest of my life because you never know what will happen next. I would recommend this book to others for sure! I am not so sure I would recommend this book to anyone in my grade, unless they were mature enough to handle some of the situations discussed in Never Eighteen. Other than that, I would highly recommend this book.
