LitPick Review
Evelyn Taylor's life is different, to say the least. She has never been outside the fence of her house, she doesn't age, she has clear blood, and the one time she made a friend, the friend mysteriously disappeared. Upset with the daily life of captivity, Evelyn runs away with her new friend, Sheila. Throughout the novel, Evelyn searches for answers to her murky past, only to find out that she is the sole survivor of a group of aliens that was sent to Earth to find a new home. How will Evenly cope with this discovery and will she ever return to her home planet?
Opinion:
I thought the novel on a whole was written rather well. The plot was not expected- you knew from page one that Evelyn was special, you just did not know why. However, I believe that the novel was ended too quickly. The reader never finds out about Evelyn's condition until about three-fourths through the novel, and then within a couple chapters, the story is over. I would have liked to see the time period after Evelyn finds out that she's an alien be a little more drawn out. However, the characters were realistic and all in all, it was a good story.
