Johnny Tremain, winner of the 1943 Newbery Medal, is one of the finest historical novels ever written for children. As compelling today as it was fifty years ago, to read this riveting novel is to live through the defining events leading up to the Revolutionary War.

Opinion:

A Newbery Medal winner in1943, this book remains a classic for all young adults.  Johnny Tremain is a story that helps define the founding of our country and the struggles leading to our freedom from British rule.   This book should be a must-read for all classes studying the Revolutionary War in 5th and 6th grade.
