Hattie has never been told about her uncle Adam until now. Adam went to a school for the mentally disabled, but it is closing now so he must come home. Hattie and Adam develop a special friendship; they share secrets and learn from each other.

Opinion: 

I thought the end of the book was sad. It however emphasized the point that Ann Martin was trying to convey, that you should be yourself and enjoy life even though at times this may be difficult.
