LitPick Review
Dandelion Fire is the second installment of N.D. Wilson's
100 Cupboards Trilogy. The book begins less than twenty-
four hours after the first book ends. At the start of this
book, Henry York learns that his time on his aunt and
uncle's Kansas farm is quickly running out. After losing
the use of one of his senses, Henry must elicit the help
of his cousins and venture back through the portals,
hidden behind the cupboards in Henry's room, so he can
finally discover the truth about where he's from and who
his parents are before his time runs out. Their journey
takes them through many worlds, and ultimately into direct
conflict with the evil of Endor.
Opinion:
There are advantages and disadvantages to Wilson picking up the story
immediately and they are respectively 1) the action begins
immediately, and 2) the action begins immediately. If you
haven't read the first book, don't pick this one up yet.
Having not read the first book myself, I was completely
lost and therefore could not enjoy the book as much as I
probably could have.
The writing is very fluid and poetic at times, and the descriptions are crisp. Some of
the images are slightly brutal and graphic to boot, which
is why I've given this book a mature rating. Overall,
Dandelion Fire is a great action-packed adventure story
that leaves the reader wanting more.
