Bug Boy is a book like no other. Set amid the time of the Great Depression, Jack Walsh must earn money to care for his family. He works as an exercise boy at the well know Saratoga Race Course. After a tragic incident Jack is suddenly struck with good fortune. He has become an apprentice jockey like he's always dreamed! He has major talent and is on a winning streak like no other rookie before. This catches the eye of a beautiful girl named Elizabeth who has brains and knows her way around a race course. His success also brings him some very unwanted attention from a man who gives Jack an offer that could ruin his entire career, and maybe a few friends in the process.

Opinion:

I commend Eric Luper for writing this novel. This book was a real page turner and kept me wanting more. Eric also really lets you know exactly how the main character Jack is feeling. You learn to love Jack and his hilarious friends, you also hate Jack's enemies. This really made me love the book even more. I always knew what was happening in this book. The author never kept me wondering what was going on. I really enjoyed it but the ending makes me want a sequel. He gives me an idea of what's to come but he also leaves me with a lot of curiosity. I strongly recommend this book to all teenage readers.
