LitPick Review
Auden spent all of her childhood trying to please her demanding parents through academic success. She missed out on friends, sleepovers, and riding bikes. When her parents divorced, she stopped sleeping and studied instead, making school her only goal. The summer before college, Auden decides to leave the life with her mother and spend the summer with her father, his wife, and their new baby in the small town of Colby. While there, she finds herself wrapped in a foreign world of friends, romance, and work. Among some of her new friends is a boy named Eli, a former bike star as well as an insomniac. Eli introduces Auden to the exciting night life of Colby. Together, they embark on their quest - for Eli to leave a tragic event in the past and move into the future, and for Auden to regain her teenage years.
Opinion:
Along for the Ride was a well written book, but not as interesting as some of Sarah Dessens other books. The beginning was kind of slow, but I soon got into the story and was unable to put the book down. The characters seemed realistic and Audens story was believable and seemed like something that could happen to anyone. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys books written by Sarah Dessen and anyone who enjoys reading teen romance novels.
