Softwire: Betrayal onOrbis 2 is about a "softwire" (someone who can enter computers with their minds) called JT whose guarantor is in huge debt and has to send his so-called human slaves to Orbis 2 for a new job and home. JT was asked to talk to some Samirans (giant sea-dwelling creatures) who had recently been problematic. Being a softwire he was the only one who could understand the Samirans, who, apparently had served the humans for longer than their work period and want to go home. However the government wanted to keep them working and slowly more, powerful characters begin to emerge. If I tell you much more it would ruin the book. The characters were interesting. JT was the main character and he wasn't really detailed. He is very courageous and always tries to do what's right. Ketheria is JT's sister and she is a telepath. Max is one of JT's best friends and is very rebellious. Theodore is also one of JT's friends and likes to count. Randall Switzer is a bully who despises JT and keeps trying to run free.
Opinion:
This book was OK. It lacked some detail and was hard to follow at times. It was very hard to get into and I almost stopped reading, but it got much better through the middle and end. It was in a general Sci-Fi genre, but lacked some drama. The writing style was good, but he sometimes mixed stuff up. It wasn't as good as say his first book, but overall it wasn't all that bad.
