After the Millennium War, parts of the country are under the control of the Zero Tolerance Party. In these new "re- adaptation communities" the people are bound by endless restrictions, they are told to forget the past, and "the right to think or say anything you want is an abomination." Here fear rules and they youth are not taught to read and write, they are trained for the military. But, driven by news of resistance parties and her mother's failed resistance attempts, Marena can stay quite no longer. She teams up with her friends, Dex and Eric, to form their own resistance party, the White Rose. Faced with betrayal and sacrifice, Marena risks her life and the life of her family to find out who she really is.

Opinion:

This is one of the best books I have read. I literally couldn't put it down and I was reading it all the time. I enjoyed all of the plot twists and edge-of-your-seat moments, which filled the book. I, also, really liked Marena's character; I could connect with her and understand her emotions. It was a great book because it made the reader think and it showed how far one person's ideas, good or bad, can go.
