In these new "re- adaptation communities" the people are bound by endless restrictions, they are told to forget the past, and "the right to think or say anything you want is an abomination." Here fear rules and they youth are not taught to read and write, they are trained for the military. But, driven by news of resistance parties and her mother's failed resistance attempts, Marena can stay quite no longer.
