Poems That Thrill: Pearls of Wonderland
Raghavan Jayaprakash
Most of the poems have an autobiographical touch in them. The experiences which I had in Africa, Maldives and Malaysia provided the subject matter for the poems. The first poem, “My Dearest,” was written when I felt lonely without my wife in Maldives. The poems that refer to the sea and the fish—“Tuna” and “Tsunami”—are connected with my life in Maldives. The African village and life are depicted in some poems. They were my experiences while I was in Africa. The poem “Orang-utan” was my experience in Malaysia. The thoughts racing in my mind ever since childhood are depicted in some poems; I have not found any solution to the mystery of life and the Almighty Power which is felt but not seen. I hope that my poems will give a thrill when you read them.
