Lotus Saga is a quest fantasy in which the young scribe, Rook, leaves his home village and goes on a journey with the Lotus Sword to find the Water of Life. After the death of his mentor, Rook seeks this mythical substance in order to defeat Amaranth, a thief of time. In the process Rook travels through murderous forests, endless deserts, and bends air in order to descend an unscalable cliff.He must find out who his real allies are, and uncover the motivations of a being who lives within him.

The Lotus Saga is a book about young Rook and his journey to save the world. He was homeless, living day to day on whatever people were kind enough to give him. Then, one day, a scribe comes to him and makes him one of his assistants. After eight years, the scribe insists that he leave.  “There is nothing more I can teach you,” he says. He asks Rook to travel to a friend of his who can teach him swordsmanship and survival skills. The next day, it seems as if the scribe has forgotten, but then he tells him secrets that Rook has never heard before.
