Hayden calls Nick's bluff and challenges him to a head-to-head boarding contest. Their mutual friends quickly take sides, the girls on Hayden's and the boys on Nick's, making for an all-out battle of the sexes. As a junior in high school, and the best girl snowboarder, Hayden feels sparks from her ex-boyfriend Nick. They haven't dated since the seventh grade, but Nick, "a model perfect guy", wants Hayden back. Years ago, when Hayden moved from Tennessee, she went snowboarding and broke her leg. Now she is terribly afraid of heights. Even though she is afraid, she still competes in snowboarding, as long as there are no jumps. With help from her twerp brother, Josh, she wins the girls' division snowboarding competition.
