The Day the Swing Stopped is about a girl named Ellie Jaymes. She lives in a very modern city where they have the latest technology: everything from a dresser that shoots her clothes out, to a drink maker. She goes to school, where all they do is work on computers. At lunch, she accidentally hits someone else and doesn't know what to say, for texting says all her words. She goes home and complains to her parents, but all her parents tell her to do is relax and play video games. The next day, the power goes out, and they don't know what to do.
