Sam has grown up very comfortably as an only child. Every morning he is driven to a private school which he attends up until the day his mom passes away. Sam's mother and father both die a slow, painful death caused by AIDS. His Aunt, Mercy, willingly takes him in. Sam now has to say goodbye to the life he once had. He is forced to live in poverty and struggles with the drastic changes in his life. He lives with four other children in a small house that doesn't even have electricity. He also has difficulty making new friends. Sam feels alone and confused.

The book Cold Hands, Warm Heart by Jill Wolfson, is a book about two teenagers whose lives suddenly collide. Fifteen year old Dani was born with her heart on the wrong side of her body. She has missed out on her whole childhood. Dani always ended up getting sick and was put back in the hospital. Her heart is ready to shut down and worse case scenario she has two weeks to live, unless she gets a transplant. Fourteen year old Amanda is a gymnast. She is perfectly healthy and is the best gymnast in her league. Amanda is up on the high bar when she suddenly faints.

Each poem and painting symbolize a different chapter in their lives. As artists, friends and practically brothers, both Jasons decide to write a book together. This book shows the struggle of how they had to live on their own in a fun, interesting way.

The book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid was about a kid named Greg Heffley and his personal diary. How everthing he did went some how wrong. Everything that went wrong ended up to be exactually the opposite as he planned. While his best friend Rowley got the attetion for mostly doing nothing. Greg had a smaller brother who usually got all the attention, and never got in trouble from his parents. He got everthing for christmas, when Greg had got a sweater by mistake. Greg usually picked on his brother and on his best friend Rowley.

Right Behind You, by Gail Giles, is a book about a kid named Kip McFarland. When he was only nine years old he set Bobby Clarke on fire. Bobby was Kip's neighbor, and it was his birthday so Bobby went over to brag about his new baseball glove. Instead, he started to brag about how he had a mom and Kip didn't. When Kip was little his mom got very sick and died. So, instead of just getting pleasure laughing at Kip, Bobby set him on fire. Three days later Bobby died in the hospital. Kip was sent to a mental hospital, where he stayed for four years.

While the campers are being turned into mummies, vampires, and werewolves by their evil alien counselors. Einstein will try to save the day with help by his alien friend Roxy.
